PSI Calm contains Indian frankincense derived from Boswellia serrata and which has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to treat many inflammatory skin conditions and diseases.

Boswellia Serrata is a medium sized tree with ash coloured papery bark, which on injury, exudes an oleo-gum-resin known as Shalai Guggal or Indian Frankincense.

The primary active ingredients responsible for the soothing properties of Boswellia Serrata are boswellic acids, a series of pentacyclic triterpene molecules that occur within the resin of the plant.

Literature reports suggest that boswellic acids act as powerful anti-inflammatory agents, and are potent inhibitors of 5-lipoxygenase, a key enzyme involved in the inflammation process.

PSI Calm is supplied in a convenient liquid form composed of Boswellia serata gum solubilized in dipropylene glycol. It is easy to incorporate into creams, lotions, and gels, and has excellent compatibility with most cosmetic ingredients over a wide pH range.

PSI Calm is ideal for calming sensitive skin, reducing erythema and irritation, and protecting the skin from aggressive skin treatments and procedures such as shaving, use of surfactants, and AHA’s for example.

Suggested use level: 0.5% to 2.5%
