Covabead® Crystal from Sensient are fine (9-13μm) round particles of calcium sodium borosilicate with unique light diffusing properties that can be used to enhance the protection of skin against UV and blue light damage.
Substantiated in-vivo and in-vitro, the use of Covabead® Crystal led to a strong reduction of the oxidative damage from light. Covabead® Crystal has also been shown to boost the SPF of both mineral and organic sun filters, allowing for a potential reduction in the level of filters required, and also less whiteneing on the skin and less drag on application.
The spherical nature and transparency of Covabead® Crystal provides optimum light reflection properties, making it ideal for makeup formulations and also for anti-ageing skincare. Covabead® Crystal also helps to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles due to its optical blurring effects.
Covabead® Crystal particles are robust and chemically inert, and will tolerate high shear mixing in hot or cold processing.
