Borealg TG is an enriched fraction of phyco-carotenoids and phycolipids, extracted from the leathery kelp of Laminaria Hyperborea. It is used as an anti-aging marine ingredient, targeting both skin and hair, through its activity on a new aging marker, the Leptin.
Laminaria Hyperborea is an alga that endures extreme weather conditions during winter in Brittany. It has the capacity to deceive the violence of the waves by enhancing prompt healing and regeneration of its injured tissue. As a consequence, it is part of the long-lived perennial species with a lifespan of 10 to 20 years whereas others Laminaria species have a typical lifespan of about 3 years.
Borealg TG is shown to upregulate leptin, a key protein that can boost the vitality of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, stimulate collagen production, and enhance mitochondrial energy. It also promotes β-Defensin 2, a natural anti-microbial peptide which boosts skin defence. Leptin is also shown to be a key signal molecule in promoting anagen, the active growth phase of the hair follicle.
This Ecocert/Cosmos and china compliant ingredient is suitable for use in a wide range of cosmetic applications at a use level of 1-3%
