Fine hair can be difficult to control and style. The hairs are thinner, typically 60 micron in diameter against 100 micron for normal hair, and in later life there is a decrease in the density of the hair. In addition it is twice as easy to break and can be damaged more easily as it has fewer layers of protective cuticle.
