Properties

BioLumen™ Firm is a patent pending composition of noni polyphenols uniquely bonded to an inert mineral backbone and further blended with yeast amino acids that harness the power of UV light and in turn use the light energy to elicit an anti-ageing effect on this skin. It uses photodynamic UV light therapy to stimulate cell activity below the surface of the skin, thereby increasing fibroblast activity as well as promoting cell/skin repair.

The healing properties of light have been recognised for thousands of years, the ancient civilizations of Greece and Egypt used natural sunlight as therapy for medical treatments, including skin disorders like psoriasis and acne. In BioLumen™ Firm, proanthocyanin fluorophores isolated from Morinda citrifolia or noni extract, are coated onto an inert tricalcium phosphate substrate, making them able to absorb UV energy in a highly concentric and focused fashion. Fluorophores are molecules that can absorb electromagnetic radiation and can change the high energy of UV radiation to visible light. Proanthocyanins make good fluorophores due to their polyphenolic composition allowing them to absorb different wavelengths of light, depending on the choice of polyphenol.

An in vitro elastin assay study conducted on full thickness tissue models demonstrated that treatment with both 1% and 2% BioLumen™ Firm provided a greater than 50% increase in elastin expression in human fibroblast production over an untreated control, even in the presence of a sunscreen. An in vivo 86 person, double blind, full face in use study conducted for 60 days showed a resulting increase in skin elasticity in panelists adhering to a daily 5% BioLumen™ Firm regimen. An overwhelming improvement in skin tone/radiance was also demonstrated in vivo, with 100% of the daily treatment panel exhibiting improvements.
